Case Presentation
Mrs. Chandra Bhasha Tyagi, a 63-year-old known diabetic and epileptic, visited Neo Dental Care, the best dental clinic in Noida, with complaints of dental pain and difficulty chewing. Her medical history included diabetes and epilepsy for over 20 years. Dr. Suhrab Singh conducted a thorough clinical examination, including a full mouth X-ray (Orthopantomogram), RVGs of specific teeth, and pulp vitality testing with Electric Pulp Test (EPT) and cold test. Intraoral photographs were taken to document the condition of her teeth.
The diagnosis confirmed chronic irreversible pulpitis with Apical Periodontitis and generalized Periodontitis, requiring comprehensive dental treatment.
Treatment Provided to the Patient:
- Laser-assisted Scaling and Polishing: This was done to manage gum inflammation and clean plaque buildup.
- Root Planing: Deep cleaning was performed to smooth the root surfaces and reduce periodontal pockets.
- Root Canal Treatment: Decayed teeth underwent root canal therapy to eliminate infection and preserve tooth structure.
- Extractions: Severely damaged teeth that could not be restored were extracted, keeping the patient’s systemic conditions in mind and with consent from her physician.
- Full Mouth Rehabilitation:
- Fixed Partial Denture (FPD) prostheses were planned to restore function.
- Tooth preparation was done, and an intraoral scan was taken to capture accurate impressions.
- The tooth shade was selected in consultation with Mrs. Tyagi for a natural appearance.
- Customized 3D-printed bridges were fabricated and tried in the patient’s mouth to ensure proper occlusal alignment.
- The final bridges were cemented over the prepared crowns, followed by occlusal adjustments for optimal function.
Medical Tests Performed
- Full mouth X-ray (Orthopantomogram)
- RVGs of specific teeth
